Call for 2012 Fellows Nominations

Nominations are invited for the 2012 Class of CSLA Fellows. Election to the College of Fellows is the highest honour the Society bestows on its members. Candidates for Fellowship may be nominated by individuals through their CSLA component association.  The deadline for submissions is May 13th, 2012, at 4 p.m. PST.

Members eligible for nomination for Fellowship are landscape architects with at least twelve continuous years as full members of CSLA. They also should be recognized as having made outstanding contributions to the profession through excellence in executed works, administrative professional work in public agencies, in professional university instruction, in professional writing, through service to the community or the public, or in direct service to the Society. Nominees shall not be aware that their names have been forwarded for consideration.

A jury of five Fellows, representing regions across Canada, will select the new Fellows based on extensive submissions documenting each candidate’s contributions to the profession. The successful candidates will be inducted into the College of Fellows at an investiture ceremony during Congress 2012 in Halifax, N.S. in September 2012.

Since the inception of CSLA 74 years ago, less than 180 members have been given the prestigious designation “FCSLA”, making it a true distinction and honour conferred by the Society.

About the College of Fellows

Fellowship in the CSLA is more than an honour. Fellows of the CSLA have taken a leadership role in many professional activities and organizations that advance the cause of the profession of landscape architecture. Of particular note is the formulation of the CSLA Landscape Architecture Accreditation Council (LAAC) in 1986 and the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation (LACF) in 1987. Fellows serve on both the Accreditation Council that sets standards for professional education in Canada and on accreditation teams that regularly review the quality of our university programs.

Through the Campaign of Fellows, over $320,000 has been donated to LACF by CSLA Fellows since 1988. These donations form the principal investment from which funding is generated for LACF's annual grants program. In one province, Fellows also serve as an informal advisory group to the component association board, contributing their insights and experience. These are just a few of the important contributions CSLA's Fellows make to strengthening the profession in Canada.
